Reverse Osmosis Filter
Our reverse osmosis filter removes contaminants, such as metal ions and aqueous salts, via high-pressure filtration. Most importantly, reverse osmosis catches virtually all “forever chemicals”—long-lasting, artificial, dangerous compounds that other types of filters let pass into your drinking water.
What is a Reverse Osmosis Filter?
A reverse osmosis filter is composed of a specially-made, semipermeable membrane, which is pressurized to make water flow through it. This type of technology is normally found in whole-house or under-sink filtration systems—but unlike those, Wisewell requires no installation or professional maintenance.
Wisewell is also more efficient than the average reverse osmosis system: while most traditional reverse osmosis produces 4 gallons of wastewater for every 1 gallon of usable water, Wisewell flips that ratio on its head. Wisewell recycles part of the wastewater so that, on average, for every 3-4 gallons of fresh water produced, only 1 gallon of wastewater is discarded.

Reverse osmosis filters are the only filters that can reliably get rid of “forever chemicals,” synthetic compounds that don’t break down naturally in the environment or the human body. Known as “PFAS,” these chemicals can be found in cleaning products, non-stick cookware, stain- and water-resistant sprays, and many other common sources. Forever chemicals contaminate reservoirs and water tables via leakage from landfills, factories, and industrial facilities. They can damage every major organ in the human body and cause serious health effects if not properly filtered from your water.
While activated carbon filters are inconsistent in their ability to filter forever chemicals, research shows that reverse osmosis reduces forever chemicals by as much as 94%. That’s why Wisewell uses both—to ensure the only thing coming out of your tap is water.
